RE: New camper

Congrats!! We bought ours from Allaboard a few years back. Our experinece there was very positive. Our 865ws has the north south queen size bed and it has the filon siding. We have really enjoyed our Sun lite. We spent all last week in it. We ran up to New York to see her parents. On the way home we did a 200 mile run down the VA. portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rockfish Gap to Fancy gap.
Again Congrats---Now go use it!!!

RE: Darlington or Bust!!! Nascar, a full contact sport

note to self: Buy Kyle Busch Flag. Might need some back up toilet paper!!! hehehehe!!!! You know one day many years from now Kyle will be great. Once he matures and starts using his brain. The boy can drive--but does not always make the best decisions.

RE: Breaking in our new to us Lance Camper ( 17 days out )

Ya'll just stomped all over my old stomping grounds. I have camped at many of the places that ya'll took pictures of. Years ago we did a lot of white water paddling and have ran several of the rivers ya'll saw on this trip. The mountains in the western tip of NC and eastern Tenn. are awesome!
Our summer vacation is next month. Last year we were able to see all of Skyline drive in VA. This summer on the way home we are going to start the Blue Ridge run in Va. It starts right at the southern end of Skyline drive. We hope to get a couple 2-3 days of driving south, on this years trip home...

RE: Rancho 9000 load settings

Sorry about the confusion. Shocks were totally compressed with no rebound effect. I believe the stock shocks were doing absolutely nothing for the ride as if riding on springs alone.

RE: Rancho 9000 load settings

I had my truck unloaded for the last month. Changed the oil, fuel/ oil/ air filters, and replaced the shocks with the rancho's. Plus had the tires rotated. The unloaded ride was better. Setting front and back on 1. Next time its unloaded I am going to play around with the front settings. We just loaded the camper and both receiver hitches. Reset the shocks front and back to 9. WOW!!! Man this was the mod I needed the most. It completely eliminated the low speed side to side waddle ( sway ). The ride is awesome. Feels like you can actually feel the suspension working. This makes me think it was bottomed out and riding on the springs alone before.
MONEY WELL SPENT!!!

RE: Sun-Lite by Keystone

We have a sunlite 865 ws. It has been great so far. We use it year round. I wish it was a four season camper but we get by and there has been no real problems.

RE: Homeade dump station

I added an extra clean out near my septic tank for convenience. When we got the camper I started using it as a dump station. We usually dump when leaving a campground, and only dump what's in there from the trip home. It's handy, and it's in my yard. Who cares if it's legal!!
I added a clean out right after we bought the camper... Some of the best money I spent for the camper. I even bought another complete hose set and back flush valve that is stored here under the house, ten feet from the clean out. I don't have to drag out the set that stays on the truck. It is nice to not have to worry about this chore if a free dump station is not on our way home.

RE: Camping in camper shells or toppers?

The wife and I were avid white water paddlers at one time. For better than 10 years we camped like this with our F150 , and an aluminum camper shell. 20 to 30 weekends a year. We still own this vehicle and shell. It's now my daily driver. Camping out of a truck like this is very mobile. The gear load eventually gets widdled down to double sleeping bag., self inflating air mattresses , two small rubber made boxes, food in one and cookware/stove in the other, cooler, lawn chairs, and 16 x 20 tarp. Back then we had it down to a science. We could pull into a site and be setup in minutes. Back in the day we were known to paddle 3 rivers in 3 different states over a long weekend. This is SOP for paddlers here in the southeast to camp out of smaller suv's and trucks with camper shells. .

RE: Martinsville Va, or Bust.

Go to just one race and you might get addicted. First you go to the closest one to your local. Then you start the research for a trip to the next closest track. Somewhere along the way you buy a scanner and headsets. Before you know it you are going to every thing within a days drive. We did six last year and it was almost too much. We were a little burnt out by the end of the season...
Fast forward to this season. Can't wait to go!!!! Ya'll have a good weekend. Boogity Boogity Boogity!!!!!!

RE: Martinsville Va, or Bust.

This post is kind of neat. I see ya'll do the regional races in your area's like we do. Being an hour from Atlanta of course we start our race travel season there in the spring. We have tickets for Darlington, 4.5 hours away. We have tickets for the fall race at Talladega, 3 hours away.
Going to the races is what got us into the truck camper in the first place. #88, #20

RE: Martinsville Va, or Bust.

JumboJet: that is very cool!!! We were there last fall. It was Super dooper hot. While it was a great experience, I don't know if I'll ever go back to Bristol for the fall race. WE decided to forgo our spring Talladega tickets in order to make this first time trip to Martinville.
